There are different types of air conditioning systems in the market and each one comes with it’s pros and cons. In a recent article by the consumer report website, each type of AC Unit was discussed as well as the benefits and the cons of each.
According to the article, air conditioning systems can be built to be installed through the wall, fit casements or slider windows and some may fit double-hung windows. Their quality has to do with their British thermal units (BTU) per hour capacity which we discussed in a previous article.
Broward homes may benefit from small, medium or large air conditioners according to their needs. Small air conditioners are the least expensive, their capacity is between 5,000 to 6,500 BTU/hr and cool around 100 to 300 Sq. Ft. The con is that they may not be able to cool a room bigger than 300 Sq. Ft.
Medium sized ACs, cool around 250 to 400 Sq. Ft. and their capacity ranges from 7,000 to 8,200 BTU/hr. The cons are their price and their weight, which can make it hard to install them. Finally, Large air conditioners cool around 350 to 650 Sq. Ft. and their capacity ranges from 9,800 to 12,500 BTU/hr. This allows them to cool bigger rooms, the downside is their size and weight which again, can make it hard to install.
